Recovery is a choice. You can always make it happen and you can always find someone to help you. But sometimes it is harder than you can put into words.
If you know someone who is or may be struggling, be someone to lean on. Ask how they are and put in that effort to help as they might need it but just not know how to ask. Title says it all.. take a look at the video below. Enjoy the little things in life. This new study states that re-living "good old times" can relieve anxiety which totally makes sense! Focus on the good memories no matter how few you have or how impactful they were. As long as they make you happy, focus on them to get you through!!
In Linda's memory, her family created this amazing fund that supports initiatives that help students when they are struggling.
Feel free to donate as every little bit helps; Donations can be made at any Vancity branch direct to the Linda Harrison Youth Fund, Account #369942 Branch 21 or via an Interac e-transfer to [email protected] Maybe yoU or someone you know can relate to some of these short stories... No one prepares you for for all the shit life throws at you. The struggles many experience in high school, death, troubles at home, whatever it is, there is no right way to cope with it and there is no easy way of being prepared for it.
Around 3 years ago I was struggling.. I guess you could say badly. My sister was in and out of the hospital. When something like this happens all you want to do is protect the people you love the most. I realized quite quickly that I could not protect her from what is going on in her own head. This is when I met Linda and realized my sister was not the only one struggling. When something happened, Linda was my go to. If I needed a shoulder to cry on, someone to vent to, a friend, she was there. If you knew linda, or even if you didn't, her beaming smile in the halls at school would make your day. For me it reassured me that someone cared. I wish that I told her how much I appreciated all she did for me in the short 3 years of knowing her. I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for you Linda. I can't believe that almost 2 months ago she past away. More than a mentor, I, along with many lost a best friend. This world is not the same without you Linda and I can't put into words how hard it is without you around. |
About MeI'm Sophie and OCD plays quite a large part in my life even though I don't have it, my sister does. I want to share the resources that helped me and my family get through and most of all raise awareness for those struggling. Archives
